The Pictures I Take

February 25th, 2009

These photographs are some of my favorites.  These were all taken with the Canon 50mm f/1.4 prime lens and a Canon XSI.  The “nifty fifty” 50mm f/1.4 is an awesome lens for portrait style pictures and I am always amazed by how sharp my photos are including the quality of bokeh.

Usually, when people refer to the ‘Nifty Fifty’, it’s the 50mm F1.8. It’s nifty because it’s affordable (cheap) at less than $100 but still quite good, optically speaking. The 50mm F1.4 is a high quality lens and still a good value for it’s cost, even at 3 times the price of the ‘Nifty Fifty’

Thank you for pointing out that error. IMO, it is still a nifty fifty, just not THE Nifty Fifty. The pictures that I have captured with this lens have an outstanding sharpness to them.
