At The Scene Of The Crime

April 9th, 2009

Tonight, while driving home from my girlfriend’s house, I decided to turn on my frequency scanner to listen in on what might be happening around Pierce County.  For the most part there was silence, nothing big going on for a Wednesday night, until a call of a car accident on Day Island, less than 5 minutes away from my house.  I decided to check it out considering I didn’t have much else to do.

As soon as I pulled up, I saw that the car was burning in the front, flames at least 5 feet high.  But the car was not just out in the open, it was front first into a house just over the bridge.  This definitely sparked my interest and I turned right around to drive home so I could grab my camera and drive back out.  I ended up staying at the accident scene for quite a while and took photographs, spoke with a gentleman named Tim who lives in the house, a University Place Sheriff’s Deputy and also spoke with Rick Price of KIRO 7 TV News and his videographer.

Long story short, the driver ran from the scene and was captured a short while later.  A second passenger was rushed off to the hospital for internal bleeding (as far as I heard).  And a third passenger was left at the scene speaking with University Place Sheriff’s Deputies.  The fire was extinguished before I was able to return to take photographs, but I ended up with a few good shots of the action.

KIRO TV Channel 7 will most likely air today, Thursday the 9th of April, a story about the crash. And as soon as I edit this, it shows up.

A Beautiful Car

April 6th, 2009

Today ended up being a very beautiful day.  Yesterday and today reached about 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

I decided to stop by Taco Del Mar to visit a friend of mine and noticed a beautiful blue car sitting in front, a Nissan Skyline.  It was in good condition, in need of a bit of TLC, but for the most part, the car was a beauty.

These are some of the photographs I took today, posted on my Flickr Photostream.

So I noticed some of my photos were exported using ProPhoto RGB…

March 7th, 2009

Great…  So some of my photos managed to make it to the internet under the ProPhoto RGB ICC Profile instead of sRGB.  So my photos probably look like crap to most of you and great to some of you.  This is just fantastic…  What I see on my page, is most likely muted and crappy on your end.  Ugh…  This just irritates the crap out of me…

*Edit*

I was able to upload the images again to Flickr and this time, I made sure they exported to sRGB before uploading them.  Luckily, the photos that I uploaded to mpix.com for prints were exported correctly (phew…).  I thought I was going to have issues with my prints, even though they probably would have been able to use them in ProPhoto RGB.

CarlosMiller.com – South Florida model jailed overnight for videotaping police officers

March 6th, 2009

There is a story that Carlos made public late last night/early this morning, 3/6/09. The story involves a lady videotaping police officers after her son was arrested for trying to walk into a movie theater with a friend on a single ticket. The whole incident turned into a nightmare for the South Florida model, Tasha Ford.  According to Carlos,

She said one of the officers, Robert Kellman, pictured right, was extremely antagonistic towards her and told her son, “since your mother is such a fucking asshole, I’m going to arrest you for trespassing’.”

This is extremely unprofessional and uncalled for.  Under no circumstances should someone, especially with the status of Police Officer, falsify information or threaten an individual.

You can view the whole story at:

There are more and more incidents of police trampling over our rights as citizens in the United States of America.  Photographers and videographers alike have to fight day to day with police and security guards over the fact that taking photographs in public places is a protected right under the United States Constitution, the 1st Amendment.

A Day At Titlow Beach

March 3rd, 2009

Yesterday my girlfriend, Kendra, Rey and I went out to Titlow Beach in University Place, Washington to walk around for a while and enjoy the amazing sunny and slightly cloudy, although warm weather. I decided to take the opportunity to photograph my friends and also add a few more pictures to my portfolio.

The day continually shifted from bright sunlight into shaded spots from the clouds. This was a challenge for me to continually modify my flash power and aperture. Overall I was able to capture some quality photos.
