Summary

Systems Development Engineer with 11 years at AWS building and scaling global services. Focused on application development, infrastructure automation, and reliability. Designed reusable TypeScript AWS CDK constructs for cross-team use and built AI-powered operational tooling in Rust. Led infrastructure design for CloudWatch Observability Admin, region expansion across Amazon Dedicated Cloud and public AWS Regions, and CI/CD modernization. Experienced in leadership: mentoring engineers, leading design reviews and Sev2 incident response, and project-managing region launches across 4 teams.

Experience

Systems Development Engineer II Amazon Web Services

Seattle, WA · August 2022 to April 2026

  • Designed and built an internal Rust MCP server that lets AI agents run sensitive operational commands without exposing credentials, pull time-ranged logs and system state across AWS accounts, and suggest root causes and mitigations. Cut triage time from about 30 minutes to about 15.
  • Created an AI "metarepo": one VS Code workspace across 50+ packages, each still its own Git repository, so AI agents can search the whole service (infrastructure, pipelines, tests, and business logic) at once.
  • Architected infrastructure as code for CloudWatch Observability Admin in TypeScript CDK. Reusable constructs adopted across 50+ packages and 30+ pipelines. Mentored engineers on CDK patterns and led infrastructure design reviews.
  • Automated region expansion, cutting per-region provisioning from days to hours across 17 region builds.
  • Wrote Java canary and integration tests for the CloudWatch Logs S3 Tables integration, catching several late API issues before launch.
  • Owned CI/CD end to end. Moved from legacy Ruby pipeline templates to centralized TypeScript CDK pipelines, reducing configuration drift and simplifying pipeline creation and management.
  • Co-designed the donor region build process, making CloudWatch Logs available in new regions between 4 and 6 weeks before its dependencies were ready.
  • Primary on-call for 6 production services. Led Sev2 incident response, post-incident reviews, and follow-up fixes.

Systems Engineer II Amazon Web Services

Seattle, WA · June 2017 to August 2022

  • Led API Gateway launches in 14 new AWS Regions and 3 new Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions, coordinating networking, security, and identity dependencies.
  • Owned API Gateway region builds end to end as both project manager and engineer: planned and coordinated the work across 4 teams, then built, deployed, and launched the service in each new region.
  • Automated key parts of the region build runbook with Python, Jinja, and ERB templates, cutting 2 weeks from each region build.

Cloud Support Engineer II Amazon Web Services

Seattle, WA · 2014 to 2017

  • First API Gateway subject matter expert in Seattle. Led global training for support engineers and wrote internal and public documentation.
